Eat Healthy On Your Tahoe Vacation

After living at Lake Tahoe for over twenty years, I have enjoyed eating at probably every restaurant Tahoe has to offer. Although there are some great places to eat, it is limited for a local resident. So, when I go on vacation, I tend to plan my day  around where to eat next, and I do like to eat. With this in mind and knowing how active people are when they vacation at Tahoe, I felt it would be helpful to write about some ways to eat healthy on your Tahoe vacation.Eat Healthy On Your Tahoe Vacation

Eat Healthy On Your Tahoe VacationDuring the summer months, on Thursday mornings, there is an incredible farmers market in Tahoe City. If you are staying close enough, this is a great way to take a morning walk and purchase some fresh healthy food for your day or week. The market is located behind the Tahoe City Fire Station on the waters edge, this makes for a incredible setting. The vendors are friendly and anxious to have you sample a variety of foods from fresh veggies to organic baked goods. One of the newest vendors is Tahoe Teas, owned and operated by a long time Tahoe local resident.Eat Healthy On Your Tahoe Vacation

If you go to the market with the intention of eating there, you will find plenty to choose from. I might suggest a crepe from La Petite Creperie, filled with a variety of fresh ingredients. I would wait to eat until after shopping, because after tasting all the samples the vendors have to offer, you may find yourself pleasantly full.

Here are a few items to consider adding to the grocery list:

1. Fresh flowers

2. Organic frozen dinners

3. Gourmet Indian Food

5. Organic baked goods

6. Fresh strawberries

7. Fresh Fish

8. Grass fed beef

9. Tahoe teas

10. Fresh rainbow chard
