Ella Dry Lake, Waddle Ranch Preserve, Martis Valley
On Tuesday, Toni and I drove to Martis Valley took a bike ride to Walden Ranch to see Ella Dry Lake. We parked near the Martis Dam which is just a few minutes from Highway 267. We rode over the top of the dam on a paved road. At the end of the road there is a single track that leads up to the lake. There are three or four directional signs along the way. The trail is great for either hiking or biking though definitely more fun on a bike.
Most of the trail is uphill but it’s only about a 30 minute ride to the lake.
When we arrived at the lake, we could see an assortment of birds. If you visit Ella Dry Lake be sure to bring your binoculars so you can identify the many birds that take refuge here. The setting is pristine and quiet. We could only see about four houses off in the distance.
It is amazing that just a short bike ride can bring you to such a beautiful place in this natural a setting.
The ride can be done in about an hour and hiked in about an hour and a half.
