Traffic Into Tahoe City, Ca 96145
Traffic in Tahoe City is not the norm, but it has been this week.
My commute to work is normally about three minutes. This week it has taken me up to fifteen minutes to get from my home in the Highlands to my office, Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate in Tahoe City. Fortunately the drive is spectacular with fresh snow on all the trees and road side. It also gave me a chance to take some pictures that I can share with all of you.
Even though the ski traffic has slowed things down a bit, it sure beats the old days when I had a commute of up to two hours on the LA freeways.
All kidding aside, this traffic equates to a great shot in the arm for the local economy.

More snow at St.Francis Lakeside 2650 Lake Forest Rd. Tahoe City Ca 96145
More snow for St. Francis Lakeside
This morning owners and vacationers woke up to more snow than some could deal with. As I attempted to drive through the complex there were several people with shovels digging out their cars. Some had managed to get their cars out from under the snow and were attempting to install their snow chains. Although some of the people looked a little frustrated I think they were all having fun.
Have you considered owning a unit in this lakeside complex?
St.Francis Lakeside is a wonderful spot in all seasons.

New snow at the Tahoe Cross Country Ski Center, Tahoe City, Ca 96145
More snow to Cross Country Ski in near Tahoe City
As promised by the weather forecast, we woke up to 10 inches of new snow this morning. After clearing the driveway we headed straight to the Tahoe Cross Country ski center to make some tracks in the fresh powder. When we arrived at the parking lot, it was almost full. To my surprise we only saw 3 people while we were out on the trails.
We headed out to Lakeview on the freshly groomed trails. Lakeview Trail is located near the warming hut on the Orange Trail. The warming hut is a great place to get a drink of water or make some tea or cocoa.

When we arrived at Lakeview we saw that it had not been groomed, so we broke a trail to the top. The view from the top of is well worth the trek up. Plus we knew we would be coming down the trail in almost a foot of fresh powder.
Once back at the Lodge, we enjoyed a warm cup of coffee at the Free Heel Cafe. The cafe has a simple but great menu. This is a great place to sit by the fire, and share about the wonderful adventures you had that day.
I hear we are in for a lot more snow this weekend, so I can’t wait to get back up there. Whether you are striding or skating, its an awesome place to be.

This weeks skiing at the Tahoe Cross Country Ski Area at Lake Tahoe, Ca 96145
This weeks skiing at the Tahoe Cross Country Ski area was incredible!
Last Saturday the trails at the Nordic Center were great. I skied to the top of Gold trail where the snow coverage was still plentiful. The higher I went the deeper the snow.
Last Sunday I headed out to the fiberboard. The last leg, Extra Gold, has not been groomed, but is still ski-able. On the way up I saw two sets of tracks. The first set was from a skier that had made it up about three quarters of the way. The second set of tracks were from a bear that also made it about three quarters of the way, these were the biggest bear tracks that I had ever seen. Coming back down was great. There was plenty of snow and very few obstacles.
On Monday I traversed my way up the front side of Lakeview. I was able to follow snow shoe tracks about half way up the hill. When I got to the top the snow was thin, but still ski-able.
Today was the first day I was not able to go cross country skiing due to weather conditions. It rained all morning and slowly turned to snow as the day went on.
Hopefully the snow will continue throughout the night and make for good skiing tomorrow.

Marine Toys For Tots in Tahoe City, CA
Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate and Coldwell Banker Real Estate join together to benefit the Marine Toys for Tots .
Last night w
as the Marine Toys For Tots kick-off party in Tahoe City. Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate and Coldwell Banker Real Estate have combined their efforts to organize what is hoped to be the largest toy drive ever in Tahoe City. The event was held at the Coldwell Banker down town Tahoe City office. There was enough food and drinks to feed an army, in-fact there were a few Marines there giving a helping hand.

There was a beautiful Christmas tree fully decorated and well lit. Santa showed up to hear all the kids read their Christmas lists and take a picture to remember the event for years to come.
If you would like to donate an unwrapped gift to Toys for Tots; you can drop them off at any of the Coldwell Banker or Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate offices in both Tahoe City and Truckee.
