There are two well maintained trails from Spooner Lake that lead to Marlette Lake. One of the trails is for mountain bikes and the other is reserved for hiking. Today Toni, my wife, and I choose the bike trail. We parked at the old Ponderosa Ranch where we caught a shuttle that took us and our bikes to the Spooner Lake parking lot. There is a $10.00 fee for the shuttle ride.
Ella Dry Lake, Waddle Ranch Preserve, Martis Valley
On Tuesday, Toni and I drove to Martis Valley took a bike ride to Walden Ranch to see Ella Dry Lake. We parked near the Martis Dam which is just a few minutes from Highway 267. We rode over the top of the dam on a paved road. At the end of the road there is a single track that leads up to the lake. There are three or four directional signs along the way. The trail is great for either hiking or biking though definitely more fun on a bike.
