Kings Beach was named after Joe King, a card shark. This area of the lake has long wide beaches, and is close to the Stateline for gambling or Highway 267 which takes you over Brockway Summit into Truckee. Kings Beach offers a variety of places to stay, shop, and great places to eat. In the summer there are craft fairs and a weekly farmers market. Check back next summer when I will have the schedule listed.
Miniature Golf, Sand Volley Courts and a boat ramp are just some of the businesses and facilities you will find here. Take the time to walk to main street to discover some of the hidden gems of the Kings Beach area.
You will also find the Kings Beach State Park here, which provides long sandy beaches, restrooms, playground, pier, boat ramp and picnic benches.
While standing on the shore in Kings Beach and gazing south, your view is of Mount Tallac. Another great hike in that area is Angora Lakes. You can read about it in my blog. Mount Tallac is a popular hike all year around. The real mountain enthusiast, take their skis and snowboards with them and make the trip up very well worth it, by riding or skiing down. From this spot is easy to see why this is one of the most beautiful places in the world.
